Amir said, ‘They bought petrol. Use it to torch the house. Let the girl help.’ Javed and Caro went upstairs to get flammable items. They worked fast. Meanwhile, Amir was playing darts nearby. He was terrible at it. Sara fought the urge to puke as she poured petrol on the five bodies, including her *(one and only)* boyfriend. The telly was on and she heard, ‘Girls just wanna have fun ooohh…’

Art by Larry Elmore and others hung on the walls, depicting dragons and fantasy characters. There was also a map of something called the Forgotten Realms. A Ouija board had been left on a table. Its design made it look more silly than creepy. A note block next to it had a brief transcription from a session: ‘U R GO 2 D E I’. An illegal plastic straw and some white powder indicated that someone had snorted something at the table.

One of the dead men sat on a comfy sofa and had taken at least three shots in his chest *(four)*. ‘Sloppy,’ was all that Caro said when she saw it. Javed apologised. Another dead man lay on the floor next to a handgun. The wall behind him had a dash of colour. Sara was shaken.

Rayhan lay close to the open back door. From some perspectives, it looked as if he had just stumbled and fallen. However, Rayhan had been shot, his *(remaining)* brains were peeking out. Sara vomited on the body *(in a respectful manner)* as she poured petrol on it, idly wondering why a stone lay next to the corpse.

They walked towards their own car as the flames started to spread. Only Sara looked back at the inferno as they left. The others engaged in small talk as if they were out on a stroll walking a dog. Javed threw a banana skin into the forest.

As they walked towards their car, they heard a wolf howl again. Something else shouted soon after. Javed and Caro tensed. Sara wanted to say that it was surely just, but she drew a blank. She had, in fact, never heard a sound like that and struggled to compare it with something. Her brain suggested Bigfoot stepping on a piece of Lego. She decided to speed up and asked the others why they were walking so slowly.

*A woman came to my office. I had seen her before, but we had only exchanged names when she popped in to welcome me. Amber parked her ample bosom on my shoulder, told me to calm down, and showed me how to operate my mouse in a respectful manner. She said that I had seemed somewhat chaotic and impatient. Amber warned me that HR wanted to talk to me about the coffee incident. I told her that HR had demanded commentary on chapters 1 to 5\. Amber just seemed amused by my troubles and gave me a pat on the shoulder. She perused the books on my desk before she left, swinging my crowbar.*
